You may need to record a phone call from time to time. Recorded calls can be very useful when interviewing someone or making an important call when you need to recall exact details. After years of not providing any official option to record calls, Google now includes call recording capabilities in its official Phone app. Some Android phone manufacturers provide their own call recording solutions. There are various applications in the Google Play store that do the same. This post will go through the many methods to record calls on Android.
Google App for Recording Phone Calls
In some locations, the Phone by Google app supports call recording. The recording function is also restricted to specific smartphones pre-installed with the Phone app. As a result, you can’t access the feature by installing the app from Google Play. The app also alerts the caller and the receiver that their conversation is recorded.
The app allows you to record phone conversations in two ways: on-demand and automatically.
If you want to record a call while it’s ongoing, go to the Phone app’s screen and notice a Record button. When you tap it, your recording will begin. Just hit Stop recording or hang up the phone when you’re done.
To enable the Always record function in the Phone app, follow these steps:

Google Voice call recording
You can enable recording incoming calls in Google Voice, but there is no support for recording outgoing calls. You must first activate call recording in Google Voice for your account.
- Open voice.google.com on your device.
- To open Settings, click the gear symbol.
- Select Calls.
- Enable the Incoming call options.
- Press 4 while you are on call. You can stop recording by tapping 4 again. The recordings will be available through the voicemail tab.
OnePlus
The OnePlus Phone app has call recording features. The OnePlus app, like the Phone by Google app, alerts both the caller and the receiver that their call is being recorded. You can, however, turn off this notice by going to the settings page.
- On your OnePlus phone, launch the Phone app.
- Make or receive a phone call.
- More choices are available by swiping left.

Oppo
Oppo’s ColorOS provides many call recording settings, including the ability to record all calls. However, not all sites may have support for recording all calls.

- Go to the Phone app on ColorOS 6.1 and above, then touch on the two dots symbol > Settings > Call Recording.
- Go to Settings > System Apps > Call > Call Recording on ColorOS 5.1 to 6.0.
- Go to Settings > Call > Call Recording if you’re on ColorOS 5.0 or below.
- You can auto-record conversations from specific contacts, record all unknown numbers, or record all calls once you’re in the Call Recording choices. You will also be able to set a storage limit for your recordings. Furthermore, all call records are available through the Check Call Recordings option.
Samsung
Call recording is also available on Samsung Galaxy smartphones. It is not, however, offered in every location.
- Open the Phone app on your Samsung phone to activate call recording.
- To access the menu, tap the three-dot symbol.
- Select Settings.
- You’ll find the Record Calls option under Call Settings – tap on it.
- To record calls, enable Auto record. You’ll have three options: All calls, Calls with unsaved numbers and Calls with specified numbers. You can select one based on your needs.
- On the Record calls page, you’ll also see the option to listen to the recorded calls.
Vivo
Vivo’s Funtouch OS also has a call recording feature.
- To activate call records on Vivo phones, go to Settings.
- Select Phone > Call recording.
- You can record all calls automatically or record specific calls automatically (you can choose specific numbers).
- The recorded calls can be found in File Manager > All files or Phone storage > Record.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi has a built-in call recording option in MIUI. Still, the company has shifted to the ‘Phone by Google’ app for many recent releases, which may or may not enable call recording depending on your location. If your Xiaomi phone does not allow call recording, you can use the third-party applications mentioned later.
- Open the Phone app to enable call recording on Xiaomi phones that still come with the MIUI dialer.
- When you make or receive a call, you’ll notice a Record button appear while the call is connected. To record the call, tap on it.
- Open the Phone app if you want to record calls automatically.

It enables users to record all calls, calls from specific contacts, and calls excluding those from chosen contacts. There is also a connection with Google Drive and Dropbox for storing recorded calls in the cloud. It is free to download and use with advertisements.
Cube ACR
Cube ACR enables you to record normal phone calls and VIP calls. It works with Signal, WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, and Slack applications. The VIP call recordings, however, may not operate on all devices.
You can use Cube ACR to automatically record all calls, calls from other contacts, and calls except those from selected contacts. Furthermore, you can begin recording a call in the middle of a talk. There is also cloud storage, PIN support, and shake-to-mark features. Cube ACR is available for free download with advertisements.
